Where and When We Meet:
Every Thursday, 10am until 11:30am at Redemption Hills Church (6014 S Kipling Pkwy, Littleton, CO 80127 — the Elvis Theater building).
Please give at least 48 hours notice prior to attending a meeting so we can make sure there are enough lesson materials for your child. Send email to: ShaunaBremenkamp@gmail.com
What We Are:
- A social and educational network of conservative Christian homeschool moms that meets once a week (sometimes more for play dates, field trips, and special activities) to contribute our skills, talents, or just our willingness to serve wherever we can towards the thriving of our children’s success as a collective and as individuals.
- An age-appropriate balance of play-based learning and structured routines that builds up the group’s sense of teamwork and consideration of others while also nurturing the children’s individual needs.
- A supportive fellowship of new homeschooling moms who want a “village” to do life with as we watch our littles grow even through the high school years. Every mom contributes in significant ways, whether it is by being on the teaching or assistant rotation, spearheads fundraising efforts, or coordinating special activities. Homeschooling is our ministry and the co-op is an extension of that ministry as we pour into our families and our co-op support system.
What We Are NOT:
- We are not a drop-off program or a babysitting service. Although we happily serve each other by keeping an eye out for the safety and well-being of every child in the co-op and step in if needed, ultimately it is the parent’s responsibility to stay with and shepherd their children at all times.
- We are not a replacement for your family’s homeschooling — we are supplemental.
- We are not an enrichment program. Although there are enriching elements to our co-op’s functions (unit studies, emotional regulation classes, Bible teaching, etc) we are not a full on enrichment program. We are also not publicly funded by state grants or similar means. We are solely funded through private donations, nonprofit programs, non-government organization grants, and our own fundraising efforts.
- We are not affiliated with any church or specific denomination, but we do consider our co-op to be a ministry of sorts and we do have a statement of faith. We do not expect co-op members to hold to the beliefs in our statement of faith down to the letter, and the statement of faith is not strictly enforced unless a family’s beliefs are wildly misaligned with the core beliefs of the group as a whole. This is what we believe in a nutshell: we believe God is three equal yet distinct persons in one Holy God who in eternal past, present, and future have always been, are presently, and always will be in perfect unity and love. We believe that Jesus is fully man and fully God; that He lived the perfectly sinless life that we never could and died on our behalf to save us from God’s wrath and rose from the dead and is now ascended and seated at the right hand of God The Father Almighty and that one day Jesus will return to judge the living and the dead then take His bride, The Church, to a glorious wedding feast where we will finally be rid of the presence and pain of sin and relish in perfect fellowship with our King for all eternity. We believe that the complete canon of Scripture is the living and active Word of God and as such is inerrant (without error) and the final authority of our lives. We believe in the five solas — that we believers have been saved by Grace alone (Sola Gratia), through Faith alone (Sola Fide), faith in Christ alone (Sola Christus), according to Scripture alone (sola Scriptura), and we live for God’s glory alone (Soli Deo Gloria). We believe that our chief purpose in life is to live for God and enjoy Him forever.
FAQ’s:
Question: Do you meet all year or do you take breaks?
Answer: Our co-op annual meeting season starts on the first Thursday of February and concludes in December, two weeks before Christmas. During our Winter Break we do not have our regular meetings, but do occassionally get together for play dates, holiday parties, and Mommas Meetings (planning and fellowship meeting for moms).
Question: Are there fees or dues?
Answer: There are no dues at this time, but we are currently assessing the need for dues for the 2027 co-op season. If we begin to require dues, they will be a very low cost (i.e. 75 dollars per 10 months). Co-op members do pay their way for field trips (if there is a cost) and for their own supplies on their Teach Day, but we do sometimes have donors that are willing to sponsor a field trip or pay for supplies.
Question: What if I’m not confident in my ability to lead a group of kids for a class and don’t feel comfortable teaching?
Answer: Once you become a member, we do encourage you to try leading a class at least once (you may pleasantly surprise yourself and grow a bit as a homeschool momma!) but if that really is not your forté there are other ways we’d love for you to contribute such as being an assistant to our teachers, fundraising, clerical help, coordinating play dates and birthday parties, and more.
Question: Can siblings join if they’re outside of the 2-5 age range?
Answer: Yes, with the understanding that our activities at this phase of our co-op’s development will be catered to the 2-5 age group but younger and older siblings are more than welcome to participate if they would like. We love mixed ages where the youngest ones can absorb what the “bigger” kids are learning while improving their communication skills and the older ones can mentor the “smaller” kids which develops their leadership skills, teamwork, confidence, patience, problem-solving, emotional intelligence, and nurtures an eagerness to help.
Question: I’m a single dad. Would I be able to join?
Answer: Respectfully and lovingly, we are not able to allow dads to be the primary participant in the co-op with their children — although dads are welcome to visit our meetings anytime with their wife and children. Also, dads often participate when they attend our Family Days, birthday parties, and other family-oriented activities. The reason for this policy is because when our co-op moms fellowship with each other during our regular activities, whether at a meeting, field trip, etc. many times very private experiences, needs, and thoughts are shared that are unique to women/mothers. Most of our moms would not feel like they can completely be transparent with the group about prayer needs, inner struggles, etc. if a man was present. Thank you for understanding.
Question: How long after my first visit to your co-op do I have to make a decision to join?
Answer: We ask that after two visits you would kindly let us know whether or not you will be submitting enrollment forms for your family to join our co-op. You can also ask us to give you more time to make a decision while you continue to participate in our meetings and activities whereby we’ll agree on a soft “deadline” to make your decision.
Question: Is there a waitlist?
Answer: To keep the co-op close-nit and manageable, our maximum amount of families that we allow to join is 15 (the amount of children is flexible since siblings can join). If at any time we have reached our max we will have a waitlist and will reach out if a spot opens on a first come first serve basis.
Question: What curriculum are you using?
Answer: We are not using specific curricula for our co-op at this time, though that may change in future years. We are currently taking an ecclectic approach (mixing different styles of homeschooling) with an emphasis on unit studies.
