Are you familiar with the verse Psalm 139:13-14?
“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well”
People often refer to a conceived baby growing in their mother’s womb and the child’s birth as a miracle. It is a phrase so commonly used by believers and unbelievers alike that not many people who marvel at “the miracle of childbirth” give credit where credit is ultimately due. Yes, mothers are so incredible as being the physical laborer of this miracle and the part that fathers have to play in the beginnings of that child is also vital. But how often do you hear someone in the birthing room say “Oh, Holy God, look what you have made, you are the master crafter!” If you think about the craft of knitting, it takes much patience and thought into creating something wonderful for a special purpose. The way God knit us together, forming us in our mother’s womb is careful (fearfully) and wonderful. Our existence was not just happenstance and meaningless. You and I were made with purpose, and that purpose is to exalt and glorify God — our satisfaction in our talents, gifts, and testimonies being instruments for the edification and advancement of His Kingdom is evidence of a maturing Christian… when He gets all the credit and we just get to be blessed by who God is. He is worthy of all glory and praise; the angels (far more splendid creatures than us), never stop worshipping and praising God for He is Holy, Holy, Holy.
“I will say to the north, Give up, and to the south, Do not withhold; bring my sons from far and my daughters from the end of the earth, everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.” (Isaiah 43:6-7)
And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!” (Revelation 4:8)
God made you with His mighty hands. The same hands that formed all of the cosmos in the universe and commands and sustains everything also formed you. He breathed life and all creation into the empty void “In the beginning…” (Genesis 1:1-2). He breathed life into the creation of YOU and made your mother’s empty womb filled with the beginnings of you. How beautiful is that? How beautiful does that make you that Mighty, Holy Creator God had every precious detail about you in mind and formed your inward parts, your soul, knowing that He has plans to prosper you not to harm you, plans to give you a future (Jeremiah 29:11)? And that ultimate plan to prosper you and secure your future is to bring you into His Kingdom forever at the end of you earthly life. He chose you before the foundation of the world to know/be in relationship with His only begotten Son whom He sent to die for your eternal life and to conform you into His likeness.
Psalm 119:73 “Your hands made me and formed me; give me understanding to learn your commands.”
Romans 8:29 “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.”
Isaiah 44:24 “Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer who formed you from the womb: “I am the LORD, who has made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who by Myself spread out the earth.”
